As a big X-Files fan, I started looking into other projects by Chris Carter and came across the 3 season series, Millennium, which began in 1996 and ran alongside the X-Files until 1999.
While the X-Files definitely got more attention by Carter and Fox, establishing a strong cult-following, Millennium should not be overlooked. It is a fantastic Mystery/Thriller series following the former FBI agent and father, Frank Black. The series establishes increasingly darker and more serious themes than what was normally discussed on television at the time and chooses to focus on mysteries rooted much closer to reality rather than supernatural sci-fi. Through the protagonists unnatural intuition and his ability to enter the eyes of a killer through its victims, Black uncovers unsolvable mysteries as an agent of the Millennium group.
The contrast between Black’s dark, grueling, and often depressing work and the almost heaven-like bliss of his home life along with his loving wife and child create an extremely investing dynamic. If you’re a mystery/thriller fan or an X-Files lover who is looking for something a little more serious, Millennium is a great watch.
As a small passion project, I’ve neatly packaged the entirety of the first season into a single Bluray ISO file, complete with a menu, subtitle tracks, and multiple audio tracks. This ISO file includes all 22 episodes of the first season in its officially released DVD quality, and comes just under the size limit to be capable of being burned onto a dual-layer 50GB Bluray disc. This allows you to make your own homegrown physical copy of Millennium S1 that is fully navigable and playable on any Bluray player. I plan to do the same with the other two seasons and will post them here when they’re ready. Here’s a link to S1 followed by some screenshots of the disc image playing in VLC:
